Thanks

nope. no good news.  i got angry the other day when i couldn't hear a guy sneaking up on me with my headphones and wrote logitech an email demanding a quick resolution to my issue.  They stated there was nothing that could be done until they received a 'fixed' set of speakers in.  I asked them at this point to expedite the process where ever possible but I'm giving up hope of getting them back any time soon.  I'm about to ask for my control pod back so I can at least use them.   Don't get me wrong, the support tree has been great, although misleading at one point, but I NEED these speakers back asap.

And its not like I have a lot of options at this point, they offered me a replacement with new/fixed Z-5500's which are never in stock, an 'upgrade' to the Z-5450's which I can't use because I have a G7 mouse (plus they are less powerful than my current ones), or a refund <--which I would use to buy new Z-5500's but then I run the risk of getting a DUD set again.

This letter is just send by me to Steve Daverio - vice president of retail sales and marketing for Logitech Europe:

Hello Steve,

Sorry for writing you once more on this matter.

I’m writing in name of the Z-5500 customers from the Logitech discussion forum. They all have the same kind of question. “Why are the Z-5500 speakers out of stock all the time”?

Support specialists on the forum only response with, “sorry for the inconvenience we have caused to you” and “the speakers are in backorder”.

I’m surprised to read that customers have to sent in their old unit first, before Logitech exchanged it for a new unit. If the exchange take place within a week, it would be fine. But some customers are waiting for more then a month before they received a new unit.

Why not send a new unit first and after that collect the old one, or collect the unit of the customer on the moment the speakers are available in Logitech’s warehouse, so exchange could take place within one week?

Looking forward to receive your reaction,

Best regards,

tm030614

good news, i received an email when i got home from work telling me that my logitech Z-5500's have shipped and provided me with a tracking number.  Although the tracking number doesn't show up on dhl's website i'm confident that it will update tomorrow.  i'll keep you guys posted.

get this, i received my new z-5500's 3 days from the date they were shipped from the US to Canada!!  And they work flawlessly.  I powered on the sub and put my ear up to it and heard dead silence!!  The power cord is a bit shorter, which is weird but possibly part of the 'fix'.  i kept all my speakers hooked up and simply replaced the sub and set up the new control pod.  fantastic job logitech!!

i just read through, and it's pretty fascinating

lol

i always liked Logitech speakers, i currently have the Z-530's (and yes they do pop... but i've sort of adapted to it after all these years) but i am looking to buying something with a remote, so i can sit back and change volume etc, options are Z-5450 or Z-5500, and i'm just wondering if i go to the shops nows to buy a set... what revision will they be? how will i know? are the new ones in stock? is there some way of knowing without havin to trust the salespersons marketing propaganda?

just to note, i'm Australia, maybe someone could link me to where i can find out... it's just that they are a little hefty in price... just over 400 AUD for the 5500, ... ... no wait, i just checked my sources, now it's the 5500D .... and it's gone up in price about 50 bucks :S... better be the revised edition or something :\... what is D anyway?! :smileytongue:

thanks in advance

Lari

Hi guys,

I bought Z-5500 for more than a year and YES it does pop when I switch off lights and etc and it is annoying. I thought it was the electric circuit faulty in my house until I found this thread at last.

I'm in Malaysia, wondering whether am I eligible for the exchange? Any idea how or where should I return my speakers to get the new-pop-free Z-5500? Any inputs are appreciated, thanks

CHEERS~

I did some looking on the Logitech website and found the Malaysia location. This is a link to the 'contact us' page.

http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/utilities/contact/MY/EN

There doesn't seem to be any local support numbers, but you can probably start with a Web request and see what they say I guess...
