Interestingly the problem doesn't happen when I boot into Windows XP, it's only in MacOSX, so it's most likely a software issue on the Mac.
Things I've tried so far:
- Different USB sampling rates (set in SitePoint on Windows)
- Different DPI resolutions. Currently it's set to a midway 2400DPI setting. (set in SitePoint on Windows)
- USBOverDrive vs the default driver- doesn't seem to make any difference.
- If you hold down option while booting you get the "choose disk to boot from screen". The problem doesn't seem to occur here.
Again this problem only occurs when moving the mouse slowly, which happens a lot when doing photoshop work...

The problem is the polling rate of the mouse. OS X works well with mices at 125Mhz, and GX9 have more than that. Logitech should add an option in the set point in order to let the users choose the polling rate, or, release a firmware that works at 125Mhz for mac people.
Unfortunetly Windows is the majority and they usually don't care about minoritys ![]()

Yup, just bought a G9X despite people having problems with OSX. Ran Setpoint through Windows and assigned the mouse a profile with a report rate of 125hz and DPI of 800 to match the Apple Bluetooth Mighty Mouse I own. Booted in to OSX, selected the new 'Mac' profile on the G9X and everything is as sweet as can be, no low speed jitter. Sure, I'm not using the true power of the G9X in OSX, but it tracks fine, enjoyment destroys the Mighty Mouse, and I'll leave its serious side for when I'm gaming in Windows.

Thank you very much, I think those settings has fixed the jitter problem for me too.
The lower report rate and dpi do not make the mouse feel any worse in my opinion.

The difficulty with OS X and the G-Series mice is that we're using Apple's drivers. If the drivers are expecting the mouse to poll at 125/sec, and the G9x at it's default level polls at 500/sec via hardware profile on the mouse, it could cause oddities like that. That is interesting though... I'll have to try it with my MBP.
And to chime in about report rate and DPI:
Report rate is how often the mouse updates it's location with the computer. For most desktop usage 125Hz (125 reports per sec) is fine for most everything, even gaming. 500Hz means it reports 4:1 as frequently, which while could be noticed by people on VERY fast snap moves, 125/sec is still dang rapid.
DPI is simply a measurement of how fast the cursor moves in relation to how fast the mouse moves. this is purely a personal preference thing that we want to provide on the hardware level.

@Jmoo: Where did you select the new "Mac"-Profile in MacOS X? I haven't found any possibility to do this, nether in the Logitech Control Center nor elsewhere.

ok, so i just registered to post my 2 cents:
apparently i thought i was wicked badass after getting my mouse and setting my rate to 1000hz on my pc for my 'EEL SNIP0R SKEELZ', but when switching over to my mac, i felt like a small child. i've been battling this skip-jump-twitch curson problem for a solid 3 months on my mac (while completely glossing over this thread when trouble shooting it online a few times).
BASICALLY i set my profile on pc down to 125 and couldn't really tell a difference with movement, went over to my mac, prayed as it booted (after uninstalling a messload of usb overdrive mouse tweaking steer apps) and the mouse is working great!
maybe more isn't better all the time ![]()
..kinda like when you accidentally set your dpi to 5700 for the first time to see how cool your mouse can be then you cower in fear that you'll never be able to hit an 'ok' button ever again.
good info in the thread folks and thanks.
