Failed Installati on of SetPoint 4.72
Hello,
I tried installing SetPoint for my wireless laser mouse, but I installed the wrong software the first time. I uninstalled this software and restarted the computer. I then downloaded the correct software for the mouse and tried to reinstall. THe installation gets to the install screen, but quits very quickly after about a bar or two. I cannot read anything it says, because it disappears that fast. The installation just quits with no errors or any kind of reason why. The operation is even gone on the task manager. I have tried to install in safe mode only to get the error:
SetPoint installation error
KHAL component not installed correctly
Please reboot and try installing again
I then tried to seek an answer online to no avail. I am running Windows Vista 64-bit. The mouse I have is an older V450 wireless laser mouse (or something very close to it). It is not that nano with the small receiver, but the longer one. I accidentially installed the RX720 mouse software first.
Please, I need any help I can get! I have been trying to install this mouse for days, and I would really like to use it!
Thank you,
Carl

Re: Failed Installati on of SetPoint 4.72
This is a great forum everyone has problems and no answers.
Same thing is happening to me with 4.72 on a 64-bit Vista machine.
I've had it installed and working 2 times, and something happend after the crash and second install.
And now it gets to the second to last step and FAILS. I've tryed every help thing I can find. Delted temp files etc etc etc. I can't find a list of files installed so I can go thrugh and just remove the install manualy. . . . .

Re: Failed Installati on of SetPoint 4.72
Anyone here able to find a solution with this problem? SetPoint 4.80 seems to have a compatibility issue with another program I use, so I am attempting to roll-back to 4.72... but the stupid thing won't install.
Anyone have a fix?

Re: Failed Installati on of SetPoint 4.72
I had similar problem with set point 4.8 on w7-64, I was going trough the step and when it starts instalation it quits.
My solution:
When you start install co to your temp folder and find decompresed setpoint files in my case was pft9238.tmp and copy 1-SetPoint to different location.
After closing the setup.
Run setup.exe from the 1-setpoint folder. It worked fine on my win7-64

Re: Failed Installati on of SetPoint 4.72
It went even worse for me when I tried to install the new version on my PC (WinXP Home). First I got a "memory could not be read" error, and then my PC crashed to a BSOD - Fatal System Error. I won't be installing any more Setpoint updates.

Re: Failed Installati on of SetPoint 4.72
After spending many hours trying to load different versions of Setpoint, and reading in the forums of peoples problems, I finished up (in desparation) of trying a Microsoft driver. I have a Trackman marble FX. I downloaded the driver for a Microsoft Trackball explorer (I.P.x86.1033_7.00.260.0.exe . I now have the capability to programme the buttons that I want. It took a bit of experimentation as the "upper left" upper right" dont correspond to Logitech's mouse, but it at least this "solution" got me the functionality I wanted.
