When I right click on a cell in MSOffice the menu to edit that cell will not stay up.

I have tried changing the double click speed, updated drivers, checked this forum and others.. But don't see a solution.

Can you help?

Perhaps the right click button switch is faulty and sending 2 clicks instead of 1. Try setting an other button on the mouse to be Right Click and see if it works on that button. You can also test it in MS Paint: right-click a color and then try to draw right-click and drag to draw lines of that color. Do the lines have gaps?

By "swap the buttons it worked fine": what worked fine? The right button works correctly as a left click, the left button works correctly as a right click in Excel, both?

What about the MS Paint test?

My guess is still on it being a problem with the switch on the right mouse button. The microswitch wearing-out is a common problem on every brand of mouse I've ever owned. It is usually the left click that goes out first. This is seen with double-clicks instead of single and/or click-and-drag letting go intermittently.

Try it on another PC to make sure it is the mouse that is the problem (not your PC for some reason). If the problem is the same on the other PC, get the mouse replaced or fix it yourself.

Less than 30 days since purchase, you need to exchange it where you got it.
After 30 days, you would be covered under the 3 or 5 year warranty from Logitech.
See here for RMA info.

Here's some options if you want to repair the switch (voids any remaining warranty):
1. You may be able to bend the metal spring back into a shape that will work. See these instructions.

2. Any standard Omron D2F series or compatible microswitch can be used if you want to do some soldering. Digikey.com and Newark.com sell them, or you can salvage a less-worn microswitch from another dead mouse. See this thread for more info.

3. After you get it fixed, don't press hard on the buttons (it wears them out faster).

When I swaped the action from right to left.. The left button got the corect menu pop up response from Excel.

I tested the same using paint - tested in standard mouse settings - worked fine, swaped from right to left buttons - still worked.

thanks and I guess i'll call in for a replacement
