Mx518 unprecise tracking

Hello,

First of all I'd like to state that I really do aprreciate this mouse, I've had 3 over the past 5 years. So please don't get a wrong impression, I really just want to know why only few of them seem to perform the way they should.

(referring to the mx518 gaming grade optical mouse)

Now to my problem which I had with my 2nd and 3rd mouse:

When my first one died due to a cable failure I didn't really sweat it, wen't to the shop and bought a new one. But after I hooked it up and changed polling rate to 500 and rebootet it wasn't even performing anywhere close to my old one. It seemed like it would move too fast even with my low sensitivity (3rd notch 800dpi 3.8 ingame, no drivers) There was also absolutely no control, whether be it tracking or  fast precise flickshot, whatsoever. Everything felt random and in pcw's the skilldrop was just shocking. It was just impossible to aim while strafing since it felt like the mouse would randomly speed up and over or underaim the target.. I went nuts for almost a week trying to figure out what was wrong and just couldn't fix it so I traded it for a deathadder which had the exact same problem. So now I'm thinking that my usb ports are shot but I format first and do my setup routine the way I always do:

chipset, gfx, sound, defrag, accelfix in safemode, mousefix.reg, usbmrs (with sp2) hidusbf with sp3 and vista (tried every service pack from xp and even vista with no change)

Now I was getting pissed, I couldn't play on the level I was used to. I went from having an amazing aimbot like aim to not being able to even make the easiest shots. All I could do was play extremly defensive and try to rely more on strafe aiming (which just **bleep**)

So after pretty much quitting gaming for a long while I got some money and bought a totally new rig (pq5-e, e8400, hd4850, corsair vx550, and my 3rd mx518)

hoping this would finally fix my problem but the same happened (have to mention that it's not a surface issue, name a mousepad and I have or have had it) Well at that stage I'm really dissapointed. Been playing online fps games since I was 14 (mid 20's now) and I've never had such a huge problem that had such incredible impact on the skill and overall fun of playing.

I've been dealing with this for ages even years now and just can't seem to figure it out. I've really tried everything to no avail.

I hope someone here can help me understand why this is happening, maybe this is a known issue on some mice that went out and I just got unlucky.

Anyways every comment is much appreciated tho I doubt there will be any real "eye opening" information

regards
